This innovative art form evolves through blockchain transactions, with each transfer or minting event contributing to the artwork's development. The unique aspect of Entropes is that each piece becomes more visually complex as it changes hands, providing incentives—whether financial, social, or aesthetic—for continued ownership exchanges. Built on the Ethereum network, Entropes utilize the ERC-721 standard for NFTs, ensuring a secure and recognized framework for ownership and transfer.
Initiation and Growth of Entropes
At the creation stage, each Entrope starts as a simple circle, with its initial characteristics such as patterns within the circle determined by a unique genome, influenced by the minter’s address and the transaction hash. As these artworks are bought and sold, they undergo transformations. Each transaction generates a new circle, influenced by the cumulative history of owners. This process ensures that even repeated purchases by the same owner will result in different outcomes. When these circles intersect, they merge to create new shapes with distinct genomes, significantly altering the artwork's appearance.
Limited Availability and Trading
The total supply of Entropes is capped at 2,358 tokens. Owners who trade these tokens on secondary markets are subject to a 3% royalty, with OpenSea currently being the recommended platform for such transactions. Efforts are underway to expand the trading of Entropes to additional platforms.
Artwork Rendering
Due to the complex nature of their evolving designs, Entropes are rendered off-chain and stored using Storj DCS, a decentralized storage solution. Given the resource-intensive process, especially with longer ownership chains, there might be a slight delay in the updated artwork appearing on OpenSea or other platforms after a transfer.
Unique Features and Community Engagement
Entropes boast several unique features, some of which the community is encouraged to explore and discover. Among these are Event Traits—special effects that manifest during transfers. Some of these traits, like Shiny, are temporary and may not persist through subsequent transfers. Another innovative feature is the Chain Trait, which reflects the involvement of discord community members within the ownership chain of an Entrope. This trait is dynamic, updating based on interactions with the Circles Bot in the discord community, and varies as follows:
- Less than 33.33% of chain members verified results in a Singleplayer status.
- More than 33.33% of chain members verified with more than one member leads to a Co-Op status.
- Over 66.67% verification with more than four members achieves a Multiplayer status.
